SEO features and best practices

Kigo comes with useful SEO-friendly features:

  • HTML Meta tags: Meta description and Meta keywords in pages and properties
  • Browser window titles in pages and properties
  • HTML tag hierarchy (H1, H2, etc.)
  • Alt text for images uploaded and added to pages
  • Fully customizable URLs. Supports full URL customization such as sub-folders (example.com/subfolder/page.html) and page extensions (.html, .php, without extension, etc.)
  • 301 redirects tool (old URLs redirected to new ones)
  • Google webmaster verification code insertion
  • Google Analytics account code insertion
  • Google AdWords tracking code insertion
  • Robots.txt file
  • Sitemap auto-generated or customizable
  • Custom search results pages with selected criteria (e.g. listing page for 1 bedroom apartments)
  • HTML inserts on all or individual pages: add code after or before <head>, </head>, <body>, </body>; useful for plugging in SEO tools and adding complex footers
  • Add HTML in any content blocks
  • Primary navigation
  • Secondary navigation
  • Footer links

By going to Websites > Domain names and clicking on Edit next to a website there are 3 tabs:

  1. Redirects
  2. SEO
  3. HTML inserts

General recommendations

For the URL, we would strongly recommend to keep them in lower case since it's a best practice both for SEO and the users.

We would recommend adding enough text on the homepage or a strong  h1 title. It can be a presentation of the agency, main services offered, etc. The goal is to have some targeted keywords.

We won't recommend filling in the Meta keywords field (even if we do keep it for now) since it's not used anymore by Google and other search engines.
